Air-to-water if you already have radiators or underfloor heating: the heat pump replaces your boiler. Air-to-air if you want to heat + cool via wall-mounted splits. An air-to-air heat pump does not produce domestic hot water (you also need a thermodynamic cylinder).

No. South remains optimal, but east and west work very well (a loss of around 10-15% compared with south). North is generally not advised. We carry out a bespoke yield survey to estimate what your roof will produce.
